Decorum's Personal Training/Competing System

Journal Entry: Mon Apr 22, 2013, 4:20 PM
So it's official ! I am just doing a personal HARPG because the more I hear about it, the better it sounds ! This journal will explain my system as to how I run this stable from now on :la:

This system does not include HARPG hosted events by others! These will be my own personal events so if someone wants to start a fight, I dare you :XD:

Skill Star System

The skill star system determines how skilled the horse is in each category. The higher the horse is in each skill can make the horse place higher in a competition.

With each picture drawn, the horse gains a star in that skill. The level of skill determines how advanced the horse is in each field and can place you higher in a show. Each picture can increase as many stars. The skills are as follows:

Agility - Training image/ Working headshot/ Half body training
Patience - Training image
Calm - New experience (training/show/extra)
Health - Food image/Pasture image/ Vet image
Confidence - Human Bonding image
Experience - Show image

Agility (max 20 stars)
This determines how graceful and collected your horse is. If the horse doesn't have any stars in this, he is very wiggle wormish and very sloppy in all of his gaits. The horse doesn't carry his head well and breaks and trips very easily. If a horse is experienced in this skill then he carries his head well, he knows where his feet are, and is very careful and doesn't trip.

This skill can be increased by
:bulletblack: A training image
:bulletblack: A working headshot/half-body.

Patience (max 20 stars)
This skill determines the temper of your horse. If the horse doesn't have any stars in this then he is very short tempered and tends to get worked up very easily in a show ring. The horse will often get frustrated and let out a buck or rear. If a horse has a lot of stars in this skill then the horse will be very willing to work with you and tries to understand what you are trying to tell him to do rather than getting frustrated.

This skill can be increased by:
:bulletblack: A training image.

Calm (max 20 stars)
This skill determines how your horse will react to things. If a horse doesn't have many stars in this area then the horse will often be spooked by the smallest things and be very skittish in new places. A horse that is calm and has a lot of stars will be more brave when trying out new 'scary' places. The horse won't spook as often and will be easier to handle in the show ring.

This skill can be increased by:
:bulletblack: Horse is experiencing something new (this image can be a show, training, or an extra image)

Health (max 20 stars)
This skill determines the horses ability. If the horse only has one or two stars it is more prone to diseases and is not as fit as a healthier horse. The horse is more likely to perform worse than a horse who is physically fit. If a horse has a lot of stars in this skill then he is able to perform much better than a horse who is weaker than him.

This skill can be increased by:
:bulletblack: Food-related image
:bulletblack: A vet image.

Confidence (max 20 stars)
This skill determines how trusting your horse is. If your horse lacks stars in this skill then he is very unwilling to try things. The horse won't trust itself and it's rider and will often refuse to do what the rider tells the horse to do. If the horse has a lot of stars in this skill then the horse will be willing to do what the rider wants and will trust the rider in scary situations.

This skill can be increased by:
:bulletblack: Human to horse interactions (not riding)

Experience (max 20 stars)
This determines how skilled the horse is in it's chosen discipline. If a horse is rather green and hasn't been shown much, then it will show in it's performance. But if a horse has a lot of stars in experience then it has a better chance at out shinning a horse that is green in a class.

This skill can be increased by:
:bulletblack: A show image.

Discipline Star System

The discipline star system determines the level of skill a horse is at in it's desired discipline and how many competitors will be competing against the horse.

With each show picture drawn, the horse gains a star in that discipline. The amount of stars that the horse has determines which level he/she is to be shown at with a certain amount of competitors. Stars go up in increments of 5 and the number of stars determines how many horse in the class. (Number of stars x 2 = Number of competitors)

:star::star::star::star::star:
A horse that has 0-5 stars is a beginner in the category. This horse will be shown in beginner classes with the star that corresponds to the participants. (ex. A horse has three stars so it would show in a beginner class that has 6 competitors. 3 x 2 = 6)

:star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star:
A horse that has 6-10 stars is an intermediate. This horse will be shown in intermediate classes with the star that corresponds to the participants. (ex. A horse has 7 stars so it would show in an intermediate class that has 14 competitors. 7 x 2 = 14)

:star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star:
A horse that has 11-15 stars is advanced. This horse will be shown in advanced classes with the star that corresponds to the participants. (ex. A horse has 12 stars so it would show in an advanced class that has 24 competitors. 12 x 2 = 24)

:star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star:
A horse that has 16-20 stars is a master. This horse will be shown in master classes with the star that corresponds to the participants. (ex. A horse has 18 stars so it would show in an advanced class that has 36 competitors. 18 x 2 = 36)

Once a horse reaches 20 stars, that horse is eligible to retire as a master in it's discipline.

If a horse has only 3 stars in a discipline, then the max number of skill stars they can get is 5 (goes up in increments of 5 (ex.) If a horse enters 6 shows then the max number of skill stars they can get is 10)

Judging using the Star Systems

I feel this confusing process would be a lot easier using an example :lmao:
List of horse show names: [link]

Let's say our Dutch Warmblood named 'Whiskey' has the following stars:

:star: :star: :star: :star-empty: :star-empty: - Dressage
Three stars here means that he has shown three times.

3/5 :star: :star: :star: :star-empty: :star-empty: - Agility
1/5 :star: :star-empty: :star-empty: :star-empty: :star-empty: - Patience
1/5 :star: :star-empty: :star-empty: :star-empty: :star-empty: - Calm
3/5 :star: :star: :star: :star-empty: :star-empty: - Health
2/5 :star: :star: :star-empty: :star-empty: :star-empty: - Confidence
3/5 :star: :star: :star: :star-empty: :star-empty: - Experience

If I want to enter Whiskey in his fourth show, then I will have to determine a few things.

1 - How many competitors
This is determined by multiplying the show times two. (4th show x 2 = 8 competitors)

So Whiskey would be competing against 8 people in the beginner class. (The higher the level, the more competitive!)

2 - Placing
Next, I determine his placing which will be decided by a RNG. The number I got was 7 out of 8. Now because of his skills, lets see if he can get a better placing over the other horses.

We take all of his stars and add them up (everything except the discipline star system number)

In total, he has 13 stars out of 30. I would divide 13 stars by the 6 skills and that gives me 2.1 so his placing would increase to 5th because of his skills. (The higher the skills, the higher the placing!)

Tell me what you think !! This will be the way I run things from now on, less stress= happy Decorum :XD: Feel free to use this system or something like it :D
