Melody. was. FREEZING. Her Florida blood was not used to this cold white stuff. Capriccio pawed at the snow, amused at this powdery goodness. He didn't seem to mind the chill, what he did seem to mind was the decorations. Pretty scary stuff.

Melody blew hot air into her cupped hands and rubbed them together, trying to get warm. She heard her name over the speaker. Relieved, she trotted Cappy over to the in gate and waited for the other horse to get out of the ring. The ring steward motioned for them to go in and Melody squeezed the black stallions sides. Pinning his ears back, he reluctantly went inside the arena.

She went to the middle and reached for her hat. Her cold clammy fingers could barely keep hold of the thing as she put it back on. Off they went, trotting one way, cantering the next. Melody forced her teeth shut so they wouldn't shiver and grabbed onto the reins even harder so she can feel her fingers. She prayed that they wouldn't fall off.

As soon as the performance was over, Melody walked out of the gate and raced Capriccio back to the barn like a bat outta hell. Capriccio plowed through the snow, throwing his head out of excitement. Once they got into the barn, Melody leaped off of him and threw the reins to mom.

"TAKE HORSE NOW!!" Melody raced into the office and covered herself in blankets. Mmmmmm...warm

Melody liked having one season in Florida. The season of HOT.
