Personality

Very friendly towards other horses. She is drop dead gorgeous so she is loved by the stallions. Gets along with everyone at ISI, including all the animals. She loves to play so everyone has a lot of fun in the pasture when she gets turned out. Dutchess had a very lovable and fun personality that has won her over many friends.

Peppermints and any treat with sugar are her weaknesses. All of this sugar keeps her hyped up and playful. So many people at ISI will give her sugar just before she gets turned out and she is a running/playing machine in the pasture. But not giving her treats before a show is imperative. If she has eaten treats before she is ridden, who knows what she will do.

Needs a rider with very soft light cues. She is very sensitive so she has never been ridden with spurs or a crop. Also is a very graceful mover and this has won her many dressage classes. Although she has been known to bolt and buck if she has been given sugar. If another competitor knows this, they will certainly take advantage of the opportunity.

Her only vice is her level of craziness when she has eaten sugar. She once took off running in the pasture and managed to leap over the fence and back to her stall. Her owner, Sandra, has to monitor her sugar intake to keep Dutchess and the horses around her safe.
